student’s K-12 education in Reno, Nevada. A tuition-free, public charter
school, Coral Academy of Science provides diversity, a rigorous
curriculum and college preparatory support. For the teachers and faculty
at Coral Academy of Science, education standards are just the

Sponsored by the Washoe County School District, Coral Academy of
Science adheres to consistent standards of excellence, while also
allowing students to choose enrichment courses and participate in
NIAA league-sanctioned athletic opportunities. While strictly upholding
national and state educational standards, the three schools (Elementary,
Middle, and High) also focus on a S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology,
Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics) curriculum in every class.

Charter schools are public schools. Like district public schools, they are funded
according to enrollment (also called average daily attendance, or ADA), and

Coral Academy of Science is non-sectarian, tuition-free, and open to any student
who wishes to attend. Because of limited capacity, students may be placed on a
waiting-list until space becomes available.
3. Does Coral Academy follow state standards?
Coral Academy's curriculum aligns with the Common Core Standards and the Nevada Academic Content Standards. Charter schools must follow all federal
laws that apply to any other public school.
